This picture shows the normally hidden underside of a bilge keel through a mirror. This crack is not impact damage but the result of water ingress to the inside of the port keel. The ballast within, which was supposed to be lead, was in fact Iron punchings or similar which had corroded and expanded forcing open the laminate. The only initial clue to this was a damp patch noted on the ground that the owner had not noticed. Fortunately restorative work was completed prior to re-launching.
